UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
SANTINO MARELLA defends against THE MIZ
Drago: Oh how the mighty have fallen! From main eventing WrestleMania 27 to being on the free YouTube “Free For All” match just over a year later. The Miz NEEDS the win here to start re-building his credibility. Santino is very entertaining in his comedy underdog role, and doesn’t necessarily need a single titles to remain relevant.
PREDICTION: THE MIZ
Grizz: Ever notice how Santino rhymes with Grizz? No? That seems like the sort of coincidence that would yield a large advantage going in. The Miz used to be on The Real World, which was of course a television show, but Santino used to be Russian and wasn’t afraid of the Boogeyman. You have to respect that kind of brass.
PREDICTION: SANTINO
DIVA’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
NIKKI BELLA defends against BETH PHOENIX
Drago: I was confused by the out of the blue title switch last RAW, especially with rumors of The Bella’s leaving at the end of the month. Is Beth actually injured? Are the Bella’s actually leaving? Was this done to keep Beth and the soon to be returning Kharma away from each other? Was this a parting gift from Vince for all of their PR work?
PREDICTION: NIKKI BELLA via Twin Magic on the injured Beth
Grizz: You ever notice that the Bellas look almost alike? I hear that not only are they not related, one is actually a dinosaur cloned in a lab for the purpose of creating a theme park. Though that might be ripped from the pages of my new screenplay…what?
…
DAMN YOU SPIELBERG!!!
PREDICTION: NIKKI BELLA via Tyrannosaurus Attack
INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
BIG SHOW defends against CODY RHODES
Drago: I think it’s about time that Cody moves away from the IC Title and into some feuds that will get him ready for his sooner rather than later Championship push. What I would like to see is Big Show seem like an unbeatable Champion and then have Ryback win the title, voila instant credibility.
PREDICTION: BIG SHOW
Grizz: I’m going to remember this if I ever hear Drago complain about Ryback as a wrestler.
PREDICTION: BIG SHOW
FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH:
RANDY ORTON vs KANE
Drago: I am not a fan of Randy Orton, but I will say that their WrestleMania match was way better than I thought it would be. The Falls Count Anywhere stipulation could lead to some exciting spots and I am expecting a cool RKO finish somewhere innovative. If the rumors of a Lesnar vs Orton SummerSlam match are true then Orton has to get the win here.
PREDICTION: RANDY ORTON
Grizz: I can’t think of Randy Orton anymore without thinking of that 300 pound ROH fan that sat next to us at WrestleMania in Atlanta last year, continually leaning across into Phoenix Taylor’s seat to do the Orton pose…and we weren’t on the hard camera side. Phoenix eventually moved his arm out of his way, and felt bad for potentially ruining our husky friend’s evening…until he continually kept mouthing off on how bad WWE’s product is. Buddy, those tickets are like 200 bones, don’t act like you’re too good to be there.
PREDICTION: RANDY ORTON
BEST 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
SHEAMUS defends against DANIEL BRYAN
Drago: I am guessing that this is not how the WWE brain trust envisioned the whole scenario playing out. The face Sheamus wins the Royal Rumble, chooses the dastardly heel Daniel Bryan to face for World Heavyweight Championship, becomes the one to finally catch Bryan and squashes him in 18 seconds to win…and Daniel Bryan becomes a huge crowd favorite because of it. Sheamus has become an afterthought since becoming Champion, but he does have an awaiting feud in the wings with Alberto Del Rio. I fully expect the Power Of Yes to be in full force in Chicago and it has the potential to top the RAW crowd in Miami the day after WrestleMania.
PREDICTION: SHEAMUS retains
Grizz: While WWE has to receive credit with knowing a good thing when they’ve got it, it should be noted that they wait until fans are beating them over the head with it. Case in point, when the marketing team went to Mark Henry in 1996 with a giant list of merchandise for him, and a man from Texas called out “Hey, how about a shirt for ol’ Stone Cold?” They almost didn’t listen to him.
PREDICTION: SHEAMUS retains
CHICAGO STREET FIGHT FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP:
CM PUNK defends against CHRIS JERICHO
Drago: Jericho has been awesome in the past few weeks pushing alcoholism on Punk, people legitimately want to see Punk kick the crap out of Jericho. The crowd will be pro Punk but it remains to be seen if the atmosphere will be anywhere near it was at Money In The Bank, but if anyone can do it its definitely Jericho. It’s not clear where this feud will go after this as there are no real #1 contenders waiting in the wings.
PREDICTION: CM PUNK retains
Grizz: Chicago is my favourite wrestling town. If they have another WrestleMania there, it’s safe to say I’ll be there in a heartbeat.
PREDICTION: CM PUNK retains
EXTREME RULES MATCH:
JOHN CENA vs BROCK LESNAR
Drago: Lesnar returning to WWE was big news, unfortunately he returned and has set his sights on Cena. Lesnar is great at playing a jackass heel because by and large he is a jackass heel. His pre taped promo packages have been solid, his in ring ones not so much and one has to wonder how long before Paul Heyman is brought back to be his mouthpiece. Many people feel the Cena character has become stale and his latest losing streak is showing a vulnerable side to him that will no doubt add another dimension to it. I cannot see WWE bringing Lesnar back, paying him all that money only to have him lose his returning match, even though he basically deserted the company 8 years ago.
PREDICTION: BROCK LESNAR
Grizz: I’ve said on a number of occasions that I feel the main reason WWE has been reluctant to build up guys big time upon their debuts is because of how badly burned they felt by Lesnar, Lashley perhaps being the final nail in that coffin. Lesnar’s time away from WWE was four times the length of his time on TV prior to that, but money talks.
PREDICTION: BROCK LESNAR
